This project
combines two existing apartments in a nineteenth century townhouse.
Since many of the original details had been preserved, the intervention
was concentrated in the middle portion of the floor, where kitchens
and bathrooms had completely changed the character of the building.
Working closely with the client, who wished to evoke a Vienna/art-deco
atmosphere, we designed a whole wall where different panels create
a simple pattern of veneer, regularizing doors and storage access.
Moving from the painted wood and trim of the outside walls to
the natural materials of the inner part of the space, the transition
between the different time periods flows without interruption.
